Ghia, my little "tripod" kitty cat has gotten exceptional care the past 16 years under the care of Dr. Gail Litfin, DVM and her staff at Lifelong Pet Health Care. In 2015, when Ghia experienced ligamental / tendon tearing we received excellent education and support talking us through the process and recovery that Ghia would undergo after having his back leg amputated, and that "it would be ok, he would overcome quickly", even though Dr. Litfin would not be performing the surgery itself. He in fact, did just that, even when being a 15 year old kitty. He doesn't act as though anything is wrong, being a "tripod" kitty...in fact, he's more loving and cuddly now!

Dr. Mel Falk is the best vet I know. I have been taking my dogs to him for almost twenty years. He is always gentle with them and very patient and caring. When they need a certain treatment he explains in detail what needs to be done. When we had to put Sadie down several years ago he knew how emotional it was for me. He showed his emotions and care for her. That let me know that he loves the animals that pet owners bring to him to take care of. He does not rush you in or rush you out. He let me sit with her before as long as I wanted to say goodbye And after was the same. Also with the two dogs I have now he is great with them. He did minor surgery on Bailey and made sure everything was well and good before I was able to bring her home. He called on the phone to let me know the outcome and what else needed to be done before she was able to come home. In my words He is the best vet ever!

We met Dr. Melora when Cagney and Lacey, our two domestic shorthair kitties, were 17 years old. Lacey was very ill and we had taken her to multiple vets. She ended up at an emergency hospital where she had to have three transfusions to survive the night. After much agonizing, we brought her home to die, handfeeding her turkey to spoil her through her last few days. Three weeks later, she was still hanging on, but we didnt want to stress her by crating her up and taking her to the vet. So, we looked for a vet who would come to the house. After taking her history, Dr. Melora had a suspicion. A blood test confirmed. Lacey was HYPOthyroid! She fully recovered and was with us for another year. Dr. Melora has been taking care of our family ever since. When we finally had to let go of Lacey, Dr. Melora came over at 9:30pm on a Sunday night and stayed with us long after Lacey was gone. She has been with our kitties through thick and thin, night and day, and is as brilliant as she is compassionate. She is, simply, the best of the best!

Dr. Falk has treated our last two dogs, and we have chosen him to be the veterinarian for our newest dog, Tricia. Dr. Falk has amazing expertise as a surgeon, a general physician, a caregiver, and even a friend when we were losing a beloved pet and needed a shoulder to cry on. The previous beloved member of our family, Lucky, was suffering from thyroid cancer, Dr. Falk removed the mass in her throat which gave her some more quality time. Because my husband was taken to the hospital on an emergency basis during Lucky's surgery, Dr. Falk personally took Lucky to an emergency hospital for overnight care. When the tumor came back, he referred us to a cancer specialist. When nothing would save Lucky's life, he gave us the courage to put her to sleep before she suffered more. Because I couldn't lift her and wanted her at home with me as long as possible, he came to our house and cared for her. Our beloved Lucky left us in her home where she was happy and most comfortable thanks to Dr. Falk. I can't imagine trusting any veterinarian with the care of our newest member of the family, Tricia. I know he will do everything within his power to ensure that she has a long and healthy life. I also know he'll be honest and kind to Tricia's humans throughout the wonderful life we are sharing with her.

Dr Litfin and her staff are completely dedicated to all animals who come into their clinic. My dog, Rhylie is at ease once she gets to the Vet office, after putting on her brakes when being led to get into our car, and she is not comfortable around ANY other strangers. Our family has been customers of Lifelong Pet Health Care / South City Animal Hospital since 1981 and have loved the care received with EACH experience, even the VERY sad ones of losing a pet.
