My daughter's puppy got hit by a car and was going to lose his leg. They patiently worked with him for months to make sure that did not happen.

Dr. Barnes has a wonderful empathy with our animals. One memorable incident was when we had a cat, Electra, due for an appointment for vaccines and checkup. One of our dogs, Skyler, had had a tooth knocked out in a fight, though. Dr. Barnes was very kindly disposed towards helping the injured large dog, rather then keeping the appointment for routine maintenance of the cat, which we took care of soon after. Dr. Barnes truly has a calling, beyond being a livelihood. One of the nicest people in the profession.

Well, I nominate Dr. Barnes and the My Vet’s the Best. This is of course a personal story regarding her, but I would like to throw in that she’s got the best staff too. In July of 2012 my beloved dog lost use of his hind quarters, I laid for three days on the floor with him hoping meds would help. When it came time to let him go, Dr Barnes on her day off and on the way to taking her daughter to an event came to the house with her daughter to put Polo to sleep to give him the rest he so well deserved. She was kind, compassionate and named a time to come to give me time to fix his favorite, steak and Mac and cheese for him as a final meal. She was so kind not to cause him to wait longer, or to be anxious about having to leave his house. Her compassion that day will never be forgotten. It made his final moments completely at ease. She was kind to us and her daughter was too. She her staff called me and sent a beautiful card to check on me and comfort me over the next weeks. As sad as it was, it made his death bearable and peaceful. For well pet care my dogs enjoy going to see her. We would never take our pets anywhere but to such a kind and sincere vet, that’s why my vet is the best.

Dr. Barnes treats every animal / pet as if it was her own. My first time there i had adopted my fur baby dirk at the Indy Humane Society and Dr. Barnes had helped my fur baby get better because he had kennel cough. She was so sweet and understanding and took her time with my dog. She also recommended things that i could do to help him in the long run because he was only 2 years young. She is a very great vet and i would recommend her to every one who has a fur baby.

Dr. Barnes goes above and beyond any vet I have been to. I had three large dogs - if they would get sick or could not get in the car, Dr. Barnes and her assistant would come to my house and take care of them and if needed she would take them back to the office. She does everything she can to make them comfortable and get them well. She has had to put two of them to sleep and she is always as devastated as I am and always send me a sympathy card. She always is very concerned about a problem whether it is big or little. She has someone call to make sure, after an appointment, that the pet is doing okay or if they can do anything else for me. One time she knew I was really upset over one of my dogs that one Sunday morning she brought me donuts to make me feel better. She has a wonderful staff that is concerned about the health of the pets as she is. Knowing I have Dr. Barnes for a veterinarian makes me feel a lot better. I have recommended friends to her and they think she is the best also. I am in my 80's and have had animals all my life and Dr. Barnes is the best vet I have ever had.

When I tell my new 5 month old puppy, Ripley, that we are going to see Doctor B, I could swear she smiles!
I first started seeing Dr. Kelly Barnes after having a poor experience at another veterinary office with my then four month old pup, Sansa. My Sansa girl is truly a dog after my own heart: she is sensitive, prone to many nervous habits, and has more anxiety than any other pet I've ever had. Because I can often relate so much to these anxieties, she and I bonded almost instantly when we rescued her at 6 weeks old. Health problems aside, she is smart, loving, and so very sweet, and it was heart-breaking when my husband and I had a tough time figuring out the root cause of the issues she was having.
I needed to get her help, and the animal hospital I was attending did not care. That's when I started searching for a new animal doctor, and I was lucky enough to have found Dr. Barnes! Dr. Barnes was attentive, caring, and truly wanted to help my sweet Sansa pup. With some medication for gastrointestinal issues, a change in diet, and eventually the addition of little Ripley (our second rescue dog!), Sansa's anxieties have quelled and she is truly living her best life.
I cannot thank Dr. Barnes enough! I trust her with the health and happiness of my fur babies, and I couldn't imagine anyone more deserving of "Best Vet!"

The entire team cares about the animals and people they work with. Every single time I have called them in the last years freaking out about my dogs they have listened and suggested what I need to do as far as treat at home or bring them in. In May I came home from the hospital around midnight and Mookie's foot was swollen. I called the next morning from the hospital as my mom was going to have ER surgery trying to figure out how to get Mookie treatment at the same time. They said just have him dropped off and we will treat him and call you to follow up. They called several times that day to check in and also let me know they would be glad to keep him overnight if needed. Knowing that he was in AMAZING hands made it easier to focus on caring for my mom. Dr Barnes, TC, Kim and Teri are simply the best people anyone could ask for!
