Pets Best Insurance Announces New Winner-- “My Vet’s the Best” Contest
Oct 26, 2011 | Dr. Jack L. Stephens
Pet insurance company Pets Best Insurance selects Dr. Warren Eubank of Lone Star Veterinary Clinic as best veterinarian for quarterly contest.
BOISE, ID- October 26, 2011— Pets Best Insurance, a pet health insurance company founded by pet insurance expert Dr. Jack Stephens, who was also the pioneer of pet insurance in the US, is proud to congratulate the winner of its quarterly “My Vet’s the Best Contest”. This quarter, Dr. Warren Eubank of Flower Mound, TX based Lone Star Veterinary Clinic has been selected as the “best vet” after receiving a glowing nomination from client Victoria Ulrich.
The winning veterinary hospital and Dr. Eubank will receive $500 from Pets Best Insurance to help cover the cost of treatment for stray animals or for pets whose owners do not have pet insurance and can’t afford treatment.
Nominator Victoria Ulrich, who has rescued and trained deaf and blind Great Danes for 10 years, wrote to Pets Best Insurance to nominate Dr. Eubank for his persistent and caring treatment of her Great Dane, Pearl, during a time of great crisis and heart-break.
One morning, the 10-year-old Great Dane wouldn’t get off of her bed or even lift her head. Without hesitation, Victoria rushed Pearl to their veterinarian, Dr. Eubank. After performing a thorough examination, Dr. Eubank determined that Pearl had a stroke. In hopes to restore Pearl’s mobility and functioning, the vet began pharmacological treatment. Dr. Eubank was very attentive and compassionate throughout the whole process, even providing Victoria with his personal cell phone number.
Over the next week, Pearl’s condition was not improving much and she was still quite immobile. Sadly, crisis struck again for Pearl on Memorial Day weekend, as Pearl started howling in pain. Victoria called Dr. Eubank immediately, who suggested she bring Pearl to the ER. It was determined that Pearl had developed complications and that treating these complications would make it impossible to treat for the stroke as well. When Pearl would no longer eat, Victoria’s family had to make the agonizing decision to put Pearl to sleep.
Even though he was on vacation, Dr. Eubank left his family to go to Victoria’s home and help them through this terribly difficult process. Dr. Eubank’s bedside manner was exactly what the family needed; giving them time to come to grips with their decision, say their goodbyes, and assuring them that they did everything they could to help their beloved dog.
Victoria Ulrich recalled her experience with Dr. Eubank as incredible, despite the sad circumstances.
“I know of no other vet that would go above and beyond the call of duty as Dr. Eubank did,” said Ulrich. “To give us his time endlessly and to fight so tirelessly for Pearl, we can never thank him enough.”
Victoria believes that Dr. Eubank is more than worthy of the prize and the title of the “Best Vet.”
“Dr. Eubank deserves this award, because I know he would do so much with that prize money to help other special needs rescues just like Pearl."
Dr. Eubank was humbled by his nomination.
“Tim and Victoria Ulrich are wonderful pet owners. If there were such a thing as reincarnation, I'd want to come back as one of their pets. I am humbled by the trust they place in me and am honored by this award. My professional goal has always been to provide clients with Texas-friendly service and to treat people the way I want to be treated. The relationships I've built with clients and their pets provide a personal satisfaction few professions ever know,” Dr. Eubank said.
“At Lone Star Veterinary Clinic, we take care of our patients as if they were our own pets. I am excited to be able to use the award money for pets that may need financial assistance for veterinary care.”
