Pets Best Announces 2020 “My Vet’s the Best” National Contest Winner: Wright Veterinary Hospital

The nationwide contest honoring veterinarians, practices and hospitals for outstanding service was particularly competitive this year as many professionals faced sudden, far-reaching and varied challenges brought on by COVID-19. According to a recent survey conducted by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), nearly every veterinary practice reported a decline in revenue accompanied by a shortfall in income necessary to accommodate practice operations while professionals simultaneously had to quickly pivot in order to continue to provide essential veterinary care (source: AVMA).

“The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely changed our processes, primarily by offering curbside services now,” said Dr. Geoffrey Wright of Wright Veterinary Hospital. “In order to keep our staff and clients safe, we had to make many adjustments to our check-in, check-out processes as well as patient exams. Our call volumes drastically increased, and the demand on our schedule has certainly been put to the test this year.”

The strain on many veterinary clinics from increased volume, and in many cases decreased efficiency has resulted in stressed teams and sometimes frustrated clients.

“Each year, we look forward to reviewing inspiring nominations from pet owners and ultimately awarding one “My Vet’s the Best” winner,” said Walter Haugland, VP Marketing at Pets Best Insurance. “This year, most of the submissions told the story of challenges facing individual practices because of the constantly developing COVID-19 situation, yet it was clear that a love for pets and dedication to care remained the top priority. Wright Veterinary Hospital will receive $1,000 to help provide care to animals who need it most, or to fund programs within the hospital that may be necessary to best prepare for a post-pandemic environment.
